A balance of power

I am fairly certain that everyone reading this will have some meal that they choose to call their favorite. That does not mean that they will only eat that meal and nothing else, although I know a few people who might be prepared to do just that.

Preparing a meal that strictly consists of meat and potatoes may be okay for some people, but there is a limit to the amount of starch we should be ingesting into our systems. That does not mean that meat and potatoes are bad for you, just that too much of it could ruin your health.

On the opposite side of the coin, some people believe that turning into a vegetarian is the answer and that they should take in nothing that had to be slaughtered, no matter how humane. The jury is still out on whether we should depend on just vegetables  for a total meal.

I believe that inspiration for preparing meals should be based on taste and vitamin consistency, such as all the proteins, the A, B & C's etc. The moment we allow ourselves to think that we lack protein, so we should eat more peanut butter, we are setting ourselves up for other problems.

Then there is the issue of too much sodium, or not enough taste. Like many other people I too have a tendency to overindulge, but when you think of it, a little sprinkle of the right kind of seasoning can go a long way to giving that meal all the taste it will need.

The bottom line is this, although you may be able to repeatedly eat one kind of food for months on end, with the hopes that you could avoid some of the other not so healthy menu items, if you consider the ingredients that you use when preparing a meal, it will be just as easy to control the bad stuff that you like so much.
